OUR APPROACH

Here's how I actually work

I watch how your dog actually behaves, in your home, and work from what's really going on.

Behavior first. Always.

Most people come to me asking for obedience help. The dog who ignores you, lunges, snaps, or can't settle usually has a behavior issue underneath. That's what I'm here to work on.

I start by watching

Before I say much, I watch. A lot of what I need to know shows up in the first few minutes:

What sets the tone at home

How your dog moves through your space, what they do with their freedom, and where they look to you. The everyday stuff tells me a lot.

How your dog responds to you

The back-and-forth between you two, and how they react when you ask for something. This is where the relationship shows itself.

What sets your dog off

The triggers, the timing, the moment things tip. Knowing exactly where your dog loses it tells me where the work starts.

What settles your dog down

What helps your dog recover, relax, and feel safe again. Just as important as knowing what winds them up.

What your dog is already telling you

"Dogs communicate constantly. Most of it just goes unread."

Body language, how they handle uncertainty, where they go tense. Once you know what to look for, behavior that seemed random starts making sense. That's what I teach you to see.

What working together actually looks like.

I come to your home, where your dog is most themselves and where the behavior actually shows up. I observe, I read what's going on between you, and I work with both of you on it.

How much changes, and how fast, depends on the dog, the behavior, and the follow-through. Most owners see real progress over time.

What owners say

Joel R.

Boxborough · 20-year client

"Allison has trained four of my dogs over 20 years. You will not find a more knowledgeable and caring trainer anywhere on the East Coast. A real-deal dog whisperer."

Stephanie C.

Daphney, rescue

"Our rescue would snap at every dog we passed. Allison helped us see how our own energy was driving it, and walks are calm now. If you need help just enjoying a simple walk, I recommend her."

Audra W.

Nature-based training

"From the very first session we saw a real shift. Allison taught us how to actually communicate with our dog, and you can feel the trust it built between us."
